KA BUILDING All elements of the KA Building facilitate the design and fabrication of projects made of composite materials – plastic, fiberglass and carbon fiber. Located on a 4.5-acre industrial parcel, the 550-foot-long structure is stretched along the southern edge of the site and is arranged to follow the manufacturing process contained within. Workshops link directly to both rail and large transport. The building, like the process, is linear in arrangement. Energy recovery systems are utilized with the goal of making the building energy independent. South-facing photovoltaic panels will produce an excess of electricity that, in addition to providing power to the manufacturing process, will heat radiant floors in winter and be stored as compressed air, used extensively in composite manu-facturing. The building is light – light in weight, light in energy demand and filled in diffused natural light.
