A 7,500-square-foot house and guesthouse anchor two edges of a one-acre oceanfront site on eastern Oahu. The main house, which spans the width of prime beachfront, has large openings in the mass of its plaster walls to bring water views through the building into the center of the site. Sliding teak screens cover the openings to modulate the bright mid-Pacific light. The other primary materials, polished concrete and brushed stainless steel, complement the neutral-toned walls and the tropical setting.
