TAC BUILDING For a furniture and cabinetmaker in Palm Springs, one simple form contains a large volume for fabrication and assembly, along with an adjacent showroom and two-story office facility. Large translucent wall panels bring natural light into the production area and pivot open to allow for the easy movement of materials. The building is wrapped with a “heat shield,” an outer layer of steel separated from the exterior walls by an air space. Convection draws heat from the air cavity, reducing the need for seasonal cooling.
